Need to renew passport while K-1 stuck at NVC

My passport is due to expire in Feb 2022. I recall that you need a passport valid at least 6 months after your intended entry to the US once you have your visa in hand.

Considering the travel ban on European countries currently in place with no end in sight, it means I will have to renew my passport some time between now and September 2021 max.

my K-1 application (as the beneficiary) is currently stuck at NVC until it can be transferred to the US embassy.

so my question is this: Can I update my passport number at NVC already (if I renew my passport now)? Do I have to wait to have an interview scheduled at the embassy? What would be the best/possible  moment in the process to do it?

you need 6 months past the day of visa issuance.

If you renew you simply put the new number on the DS160 when submitting to the consulate.   NVC isn't involved with the information for the i129f or k1

YMMV

Thanks for the info.

But I already completed my DS-160 weeks ago, so I can’t modify it anymore...Should I ask the US Embassy what the best course of action is then?...

2022 is a year and a half later from now and I’m pretty sure you’ll get a interview date way before that. I wouldn’t even worry about it right now. I would wait and see if I hear anything back from the consulate the beginning of next year and then worry about the passport in the middle of next year. Good luck.
