finally, this is from the 130. the part about explanation of our relationship. my intention was to make it clear how the current situation forced us to go from b2 to 130/485. i know there are a lot of run on sentences, and maybe more info than is needed. this is the final paragraph of a one page letter. the first parts just detail how we met and started a family overseas and how came back to the USA to look for work.

Quote

...

I continued to provide financial support for my family as I worked to advance my career and seek financial stability in the United States.  COVID-19 forced us to expedite some of our plans and in April 2019, the US Embassy in Nairobi organized an evacuation flight for all US Citizens that were in Kenya at the time.  Our two children were granted space on the flight, and their mother YYYYYY was given a visa to accompany them on the trip to the USA.  They arrived in the US on April 23, 2020 and we have been living together in Richmond, Virginia.  Initially we believed the pandemic would be short and my family would to return to Kenya in a few months as OOOOOO was to resume school in the fall.  However, the pandemic got markedly worse, travel restrictions extended, and schools in Kenya shut down for the rest of the year.  The situation led us reconsider our life plans and given the uncertainty of the future, we concluded that one thing was certain: we love each other and wanted to get married.  We the blessing of my parents and her family, and on July 31st 2020, we were married.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXXX

I know i'm asking a lot. But i'm hoping that once all this is said and done i'll be in a position to help someone else.

I'm not sure about your application overall as I am working on my own to be sent out on Monday but, keep in mind that you can add the biometrics fee to the I-485 fee instead so it would be just one I-1450 with $1225.

Here's a guide that helped me when I was filing for mine back in July:

I had cover letters per form but it was only to provide a summary of what documents are included per form. From my understanding, the cover letters are for us, it's like our own checklist and not really required by USCIS. The senior VJ members here can correct me if I'm wrong :)

I also combined one G-1450 for both I-485 and biometrics fee. I did not provide any narratives as to why I was adjusting from B2 since I feel it unnecessary and they can just ask it from us during the interview. Also, since you already have kids, I'm sure that's a strong indication of a bona fide marriage :)

One more thing, I notice that you are sending it via USPS? With all the delays happening, you might want to reconsider sending it via UPS/ FedEx, etc instead. Just my two cents. Good luck! :)

When my package was initially rejected, I knew that the cover letter on my Evidence of Bonafide Marriage was incorrect but since I already sealed the envelope, I sent it as is. However, when I received it back, I updated the address because I was thinking I am sending it to a US government institution even though the cover letter is for myself, and not a requirement. It's really up to you :)
