Time to think about something more pleasant that K1 processing, Covid-19 and embassy reopenings.....

Who has recommendations/experience enjoying Palawan/El Nido beaches and activities? My fiancee and I want to head there my next trip (whenever that is) do some beach time, island hopping, jungle adventures and of course just spending time with each other.

I thought we'd start in Puerto Princessa for a day or two, maybe hit the underground river and then further north to El  Nido area for the rest of the trip. I'm going to try and take 12-13 days... Any recommendations on hotels or things not to miss or do?

My fiancee and I get excited when we talk about it and almost everyone needs something to look forward to these days. We're staying positive.

Thanks

Jamey

My now-wife and I spent some time in and near Coron and skipped the busier El Nido/Puerto Princesa areas. It was more relaxing IMO.

Then again, we aren't socialites at all. We skipped Boracay when near Cebu. haha

I used to fly into Puerto Princess and take about 1 hour van ride to Sabang. It's where the Underground river is, I always stayed at Sheridan Hotel there, it's one of the nicest hotels I have seen in Philippines and sadly they keep going up on price each year. I just checked next few month and they seem to be halfprice at around $80 per night.

Great beach there with actual white sand and no rocks and actual waves. You can go next about 3 minute walk and be in a small town where you can get food and drinks at Philippines price rather than paying Sheridan prices, but Sheridan does have some pretty impressive buffets at night and for breakfast.  I have stayed there about 6 times and always enjoyed the place.

Last year I decided I wanted to check out Coron and El Nido, heard so much about them.  I booked a flight from Manila to Busuanga Airport in Coron,  We spend about 3 days in Coron doing the tours.  I was bored to death at night in Coron, The day trips were cool but after riding a smaller boats all day with 8 people it got old fast. Nice island to hop and see.

I was done with Coron, so I found a large boat that was like 3 hours from Coron to El Nido, I did enjoy the boat ride and the sights, and it moved pretty fast and it was set up like a plane inside with nice seats and air con.

Got to ElNido and did the tours for a few days, the did have much better night life in El Nido but it's still pretty tame.  I did some exploring and sight seeing in El Nido and went to Napcan Beach which was pretty cool.

Would I go back to Coron or El Nido, No I wouldn't but I am glad I was there and checked it out for myself.

I did notice in Coron to go on the the tours you had to go to a port and go from there for the island hop..  In El Nido you went to a beach to catch the tours for the island hop.

The hotels at least the ones we found in Coron were mostly not on a beach nor close to any beach, in El Nido they were close or on a beach.

The Chinese Nationals drove their yacht to Palawan and now are getting deported and having their yacht seized and impounded.

PRESS RELEASE
23 July 2020

BI to deport 10 Chinese passengers of a yacht apprehended in Palawan

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it will initiate deportation proceedings against 10 Chinese nationals who recently arrived aboard a luxury yacht in Puerto Princess City, Palawan without notice and permission from port authorities.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente ordered the conduct of deportation proceedings against the Chinese crewmen and passengers of the vessel SY Me Li 31 upon learning that elements of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) apprehended the vessel on Monday, 20 July 2020, off the coast of Brgy. Concepcion, Puerto Princesa City.

The BI Chief said that the foreign nationals violated Philippine immigration laws for entering the country without a visa and prior notice, and clearance from the Bureau and other port authorities.

They were identified as Zhang Dengkang, Lin Huawei, Zhou Wei, Xu Yuansen, Lou Xioqiang, Zhao Zhoujin, Chang Liujing, Luo Shui Sheng, Chen Zhen Qi, and Zhao Jian Hui.

BI Seaport Operations Chief Alnazib Decampong explained that existing rules require the agent or operators of all vessels bound for the Philippines, to submit to the Bureau an advance notice of the ship's arrival as well its crew list and passenger manifest.

Decampong said the Chinese nationals may be considered as illegal entrants as they did not apply for entry visas from a Philippine Consulate in their port of origin before sailing to the Philippines.

It was learned that the aliens are now quarantined aboard their yacht that is currently anchored in the waters near the Honda Bay Beach Ressort in Puerto Princesa City.

"They will remain in their ship until they are deported. We will not allow them
to disembark and go ashore, not only for their having no visas, but also because foreigners like them are restricted from entering the country due to COVID-19," Decampong said.

He added that the impounded yacht may be seized and forfeited in favor of the government as provided under the Philippine Immigration Act.
