I129f approved June 25. Have not received my NoA2 yet in the mail. Emailed UsCIs and they replied saying i will get an answer from them by Aug 2. Anybody having the same situation? Do i physically need the NOA2 letter. Is the email from UScIS saying i was approved not enough.

You will eventually need the NOA2 when you file the AOS after marriage.  But until then you don't. However I'd keep bugging them about it.

There are cases here in VJ where they have accepted the I-129F receipt notice (NOA1) for AOS. The form says: "NOTE: Attach a copy of the Form I-797 receipt or approval notice for the underlying petition or application, as appropriate." https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-485-pc.pdf
