N400, spouse's passport expired

Hi everyone. My wife is filling out the N400 and needs to give evidence that I am a US citizen. I doesn't have a certified copy of my birth certificate on hand, and my current passport expired in February of this year. Does my passport need to be valid, or is sending a picture of my expired passport okay? I am going to renew it either way, but it's going to take a while because of Covid.

K1 until Green Card

01/13/15 - I-129F package sent

01/15/15 - Arrived at Texas Service Center (sigh...)

01/27/15 - NOA1 in hand

07/16/15 - Case was approved!

07/21/15 - NOA2 in hand

07/24/15 - Case sent to NVC

Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure if "current" meant that it had to not be expired.

As an aside, do you have copies of your documentation along the way? Somewhere along the line you submitted the same evidence. Maybe reference those documents along with the copy of the expired passport? Probably goes in the "not necessary, but couldn't hurt" folder! Good luck.

I think I only sent my passport pics during the process when it wasn't expired. It's been a long long time though so I can't remember haha.

Yes, it has been a long time for us too. That's why I don't respond/post much anymore. I don't know how "valid" my information is after 8 years! Best of luck to you!
