Case Status before Biometrics

Just wondering if anyone knows if applications are still being worked on/processed without Biometrics complete? My appointment for my biometrics was two days after the shutdown - now wondering if they  were still working on it with biometrics pending ?

I haven't heard of anyone's case moving forward without biometrics so far. The Application Support Centers are supposed to open July 13th so in theory biometrics will start again soon.

At least in the April 2020 files thread, I haven't seen anyone get an update before biometrics.

 

It is possible that things are going on behind the scenes but I have no way to confirm that.

Where are the cases worked on before they are sent to the local field offices? Is there a notification/update when the cases are moved to the field offices?

The Notice with Biometrics appointment will let you know which field office you must got to.

Thanks but that wasn't my question. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.

 

I'm asking where are the cases worked on before they are assigned out to the field offices for interviews. And at what point in the process are they assigned out to the field offices? So for example, a case is submitted online March 5th. Where does all the work happen before the case is assigned to the field office? OR does it go to the field office immediately and that's where all the work happens? Scheduling biometrics, doing background checks, scheduling interviews? Does that make sense?

Got it, Everything gets processed by the NBC (National Benefits Center) once the case is processed and they determine the  applicant meets all requirements  etc, then they transfer the case to the field office or ASC to proceed with the next steps which in most cases is Biometrics.

Thanks! So if the biotmetrics appt was scheduled (but then canceled due to Covid) does that mean the case is already with the field office? Does someone in the field office determine whether or not to re-use the biometrics? and determines when to schedule the interview appointment? I'm just trying to get a feeling for where the case is...

 

And has anyone explained why ASC openings were delayed until July 13? What's so magical about that date? My fear is that we're going back into a slow down and that date will get bumped out...but of course there's the threatened furlough too to worry about. Its a wonder we all don't have ulcers from the worry

No idea why they picked that day. It's also a "phased re-opening" so not even all offices will open that day. I don't really know what "phased" means here but my assumption is not all will open the same day?
