Hi guys,

I hope you are all well.

I am the applicant in marriage based visa.

I just tried to speak with a customer service representative at USCIS. I was told they can’t provide any information without speaking to the petitioner. i.e my wife.

I am going through a divorce and wanted to inquire about how to inform them and ask a few questions.

I have not experienced this when calling before, does anyone know if this is a new policy and what I can do if I am separated from my wife atm regarding speaking with USCIS?

 Thanks for any help.

But I have called many times before and never experienced this. Is this a new thing?

No. Until the case goes to NVC you cant inquire about the case without the petitioner

You are the beneficiary. Not applicant

So, the applicant is the US citizen?

Are you confusing petitions with visa applications?  USCs submit petitions for spouses.  Then the spouse applies for a visa at the consulate or embassy.
