I was told it would take 4 wks, I waited almost 6 wks went back to SS office, and apparently the mailman returned it back because my husbands last name was not on the mailbox, since it was an official document it was returned to sender.  We then got it two weeks later.

My wife recently moved over here on a k1, we got married a week and a half ago, and back in January during her first week here we went and applied for a SSN. They said it had to be manually verified and it could take up to 4 weeks. It’s been over 5 now and we haven’t heard anything. When we check the SAVE status system it says “case returned to agency” in Maryland. It has said that for a few weeks though. Is this normal for it to be this long?

Hello, we are in a similar situation. My husband moved over on 1/30 with a K1 and applied for a SSN on 2/6. We were told the same 4 week thing for manual verification. It'll be 6 weeks this Thursday and we haven't gotten anything. We went back into the SSA office at the 4 week mark and they just told us we need to wait longer. Did your wife end up getting her SSN? Thanks!

Yes she did, we called on the beginning of the fifth week and they said we need to come in, but the next day it arrived in the mail, also the same day a letter arrived saying the card would come in two weeks. The letter was back dated 2 weeks earlier lol.

I arrived in the US March 3rd. Applied for my SSN on the 9th and received it today, the 17th. They told me at the office that they were having SAVE issues and that it would need to go for manual verification, something I didn’t want to happen because I figured it would be weeks before I heard anything. It was showing returned to agency all week so I was really surprised to get it today.
