I think we may have over paid our fees. When we mailed our packet off on Monday we included one check for $765.00. Now I'm re-doing the math and it appears we should have only paid $745.00... Which is correct? Will this result in a RFE for a new check? Or have we paid the correct fee?

I thought it had to be 3 seperate payments, except for the bio fee can be included in with the AOS. Someone clarify if I am wrong.
Separate checks are "recommended" to help prevent screw ups. Not required!

Actually it would be more than 3 including Biometrics!

Maybe you will get lucky and they will send the entire package back and you can delete the AP and EAD as they are a waste of time and money.

The GC processing at this time is as fast or faster than the EAD and AP.

Only will cost you $395!

GC Processing is not faster, I replied in the other topic.

Please do not give erroneous advice.

Not for everyone, it would appear!! I think the people who have been stuck in namechecks forever might just disagree with that one...

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Perhaps for you, but tell that to the people who have been stuck in name checks for 2 years! I think spending the extra couple hundred dollars have saved them their sanity. I don't think the whole visa process should be a bargain hunt. It's nice to save money on things you don't need, but who are you to say who may or may not need (or want) these very important documents.

Basically, don't give advice like this. EAD and AP is insurance that in case you don't get your Green Card in a remarkable amount of time, you can still work and travel.

And GC processing varies dramatically, you should know this. Go and look at the "Interview Approved, Waiting for Name Check" thread and tell me that Green Cards are given within 90 days.

 jeez.

The fees are in the instructions of each form. Effective until July 30, 2007:

I-485 (AOS) = $325 + $70 Biometrics fee = $395

I-765 (EAD) = $180

I-131 (AP) = $170

Total = $745

Since you overpaid by $20, they may send your package back and ask for the proper fee. They may just take the extra $20 and run. Even though they say you can send in one check, it's always best to send in separate checks for each document (the exception being AOS and Biometrics go together) to avoid this type of error.

You should know within a couple weeks what they're going to do.
