October Filers Updates?

My update is below....

So I am a bit confused right now because it appears we are taking an abnormal path compared to literally every single person on this website, and other websites. We filed October 14th, and got our NOA on the 18th. It took them over 2 months to send out a fingerprint appointment notice, and they sent two. Apparently no one here has ever gotten two..... Also they haven't provided any updates on any of their multiple websites. Please see below:

I am aware that updates flow at different rates, but whats the value or use in this portion of their website if it's entirely and completely inaccurate? It states 'N' for mobile and e-mail alert and we have both of those turned on. Not a single piece of this website is accurate. Additionally, I have tried the multiple other pages/links here.

Just curious - Also there is no October filing thread, so I think we should consider making one. I would be very curious to see how they are doing. I see a lot of November filers already ahead both in updates and actual progress. We have our second biometrics appointment tomorrow, after having our first just a few days ago.  FYI: The appointments claim to be for different things based on the paper they mailed us, and one is not related to the other as we obtained both notices within a few days of each other.

It's definitely not uncommon to get several biometrics appointments, I have even read about those getting 3. Fingerprints don't always come out good on the first try, so they ask you to come in a second time (or more). Some people have tiny cuts in their fingers, or very dry skin etc, so the prints have to be redone. Perfectly normal and you're faaaar from the only one who had to do this.

The "N" means that you have opted out of receiving emails and texts. It should say "Y" if you want emails and texts.

I don't see how your case is "taking an abnormal path". It's not any different from others?

When I asked in a few other threads, people indicated it was not normal to have multiple biometrics appointments. Apparently some people get two requests and some get one.

As for the "N", we opted IN FOR TEXTS and received our original receipt notice VIA TEXT so that proves my point correct that this website shows inaccurate data.

As for abnormal path, if you look at the October thread you shared, thank you by the way, you will notice people are already getting interview schedules and having their case status updated. Additionally many people filed after we did and had biometrics appointments over a month before we did.  The best comparison I can make it so people who filed around the same time I did. If you take it an extra step and look at the November thread, you will see people who filed a month later than we did, had biometrics a month before we did, this is a 2 month variance in a 4 month timeline, that's significant. I understand there are varying times, but our application was sent "To a center that had a smaller queue" several states away as indicated when we called the support line to figure out what was going on.

As for the "going in for a second try", they must REALLY think their employees suck if they send you for a second try BEFORE your FIRST appointment, if you read the final line of my above post you will see I pointed out that they were not related to each other.

Then you need to read up on a bit more, it's definitely not uncommon to receive 2 or more biometrics appointment. I went in for 2 appointments myself when I filed for AOS (one for i-765 and one for i-485).

You receive the first (original if you will) receipt text by sending in form g-1145 with your AOS application, prior to this you don't even know what your receipt number is and therefore can't put it in anywhere on any website. So that first text has nothing to do with the website. As long as your settings say "N" you won't receive any emails or text from the website.

I still don't see anything abnormal with your case. You will find thousands of people in your same situations, and thousands who had other updates, or no updates at all. You will find thousands of people who never even received their NOA1s. AOS is based on your local field office, so there is NO way you can compare your case with someone from another field office. Some field offices have a wait time of 2 months, others 2 years.

Even at the same field office it will differ, when I filed there was another couple at my field office who received their interview date in 3 months, while I had to wait for 7. Still nothing abnormal.

You CAN'T compare your case to others. And there is absolutely NOTHING abnormal with what you have told us about your case.

So I’ll sum up what I take from your response.

1) the website is useless because it doesn’t provide consistent updates across people. Or there are so few updates that it doesn’t really matter..

2) Some people get screwed and others get lucky, they lack effective performance management and operational efficiency/management at USCIS.

If those are true then so be it, but it’s more reason why the US government is trash, and why tax payer money gets wasted.

appreciate your responses Scandi, thank you.

you have to opt in for text and email updates on the website itself. it has nothing to do with the form you filled out and submitted with your original submission... it's as simple as pressing the "email alerts on" button at the bottom of the page you screenshot

We have been waiting for a month on “case ready to be scheduled for interview” seeing as some November filers already have their greencard we intend to call and inquire to why our interview scheduling is taking so long.

You can't compare to other cases. It's all about your local field office from now on. Some field offices are super fast while others are super slow, it can be anything between a couple of months and a couple of years before being scheduled for an interview.

So I’m comparing with other people on my area/field office. Fortunately for me there is an entire thread dedicated to my field office! Someone did 3 months in my field office that filed a few weeks before me.

And when I went through AOS another couple at my exact field office got their interview in 3 months while we waited for 7 months (7 months was the official processing times on USCIS website). So again, you can't compare to others, every case is different. Some will go fast, some will go slow.

While I agree with you, there’s a systemic issue when similar cases across the board can take drastically different time frames. If you scroll through the thread from October, you will find far more people that already have a scheduled interview than you will that don’t.

it’s also naive to ignore the fact that USCIS operates as inefficiently as most other government organizations. Many times, the result of your timeline is who you get as an agent. Whether is McDonald’s, Apple, or USCIS, there are employees who dislike their job and move slower.

Also FYI - calling is the only reason our case has moved along for almost every step. When you call, they open your case and take a look and with enough frustration they escalate the case to an agent who can actually make actions on it.
