Before you immigrate someone from Jamaica, consider whether or not the man you met, can support you financially, mentally, and emotionally. This article, see link below, was published by one of the major circulating newspapers in Jamaica. Think wisely because once you immigrate someone, it is life changing. Can be good or bad, ultimately, your experience will be determined by whether or not you took your time to discern and make sure this person will add to you.

God bless.

I'd imagine this is something one should consider whenever they are thinking of having a life partner from anywhere and even outside of immigration.

Not really realistic to expect most immigrant spouses to support an American in the US.  In fact, the opposite is the case when US citizens "immigrate over" someone.

**** Thread moved from K1 to regional forum as both the article and the Op's comment reference that country specifically. Please note that we usually require the title of a thread to match the article, but I will leave it as is this one time *****

They should have the skill set to become self sustaining. Otherwise, you are building  on an unhealthy attachment. We all have to naturally feel we are contributing and can care for ourselves.

Yes, something we look for in a partner outside of immigration. However, the article illustrates perfectly how the culture and community is. You have to use some serious observation and listening to keenly identify the ones with the real morals and values. Don’t just fall for dem pretty words.
