AOS is for the foreign spouse, not USC. USC doesn't file anything.

The moment you guys got married, you can start using your new names. As an USC, she can start changing her name on driver's license, SSN. But that doesn't affect the AOS process at all.

the petitioners name change does not affect anything at all. I changed my name immediately after we married and it changes nothing other than the name you use on your various petitions when it asks about her info.
