It seems almost all afghans are put in AP. Some a couple months and others many months to even a year or 1.5 years. It’s because they have to do background checks here at the state department. I don’t know how some got it done in 3 months and others are waiting so long. Unless they had wasita? I don’t know.

Everyone experiences AP at some time. No one can say with any certainty when your visa will be issued. Administrative processing is at its most frustrating when it goes on for several months. Typically this is caused by a consular post waiting for a response on some form of advisory opinion. More recently due to additional administrative hurdles such as the recent flurry of executive orders regarding visa issuance. We have seen some who have experienced very long delays sometimes beyond a year. But those are rare. Administrative processing (AP) has no set limits, it can go as short, or as long, as is determined by the administrative agency deems appropriate. All you can do is sit back, relax, and wait for them to done.

Follow up with your medical exam facility and trace your file to the Embassy. That's all you can do at this time.

Hi everyone!

my fiancé had his medical examination last year on the 19th and it 8 days it will be a year since. I’m assuming it expires after a year. Will they be contacting us to prior to it expiring or after it expires in order to re-do the medical examination.

Also we have been in AP for almost one year now. Such a frustrating and dreadful wait. I hope they issue his visa soon😭

Please advise. Thank you

They will contact you if they need a new medical. I believe you will but it's best to wait for the embassy instructions.

By the way don't hi-jack someones thread. Start your own so that the subject matter is cohesive to what is being discussed.
