Hi (Not sure if this is in the write place, please move if not :) )

 

Does anyone know/have advice for traveling abroad with an expired passport? 

 

You can not get a renewed passport from Venezuela right now, so my husband's pp is expiring next year and he read that we can use the I-131 as a travel document (only accepted by certain countries) to Mexico and some other countries, and to re enter the US. Does anyone have experience with this? TIA!

I don’t believe you can fly internationally with an expired passport. Some countries don’t even let you in if your passport expires within 6 months. 

 

The i-131 allows you to come back to the US before you have your green card in hand. I don’t believe other countries will accept this.

Even with the greencard you need to have a valid passport. They stamped my passport after coming back from an international flight.

Every international travel needs passport still valid at least 6 months. i-131 for re-entry for USA only, another country they did not know and care what i-131 is.

If you went outside us it’s meaning international travel.Right? Does it matter you went by plane, boat or walking. You have to meet officer at the border each country. Does it make sense?
