When mine came ripped, I contacted embassy and they told me to send them a photo to determine if packet needs to be resealed. Then they told me to send this packet back to them and a week later I got my packet in new envelope. And also its normal that one corner of the envelope is cut off, they do it on purpose, no need to think its damaged.

My fiance's visa packet arrived damaged what is the protocol for this? Thanks!

How big is the tear?   The corner is always cut and if the tear is only an inch or so (not big enough to access the papers) it shouldn't be an issue (they all tend to have a little tear coming away from the cut corner).  But if the tear is bigger you will have to get the package back to the embassy.  If your fiancee lives close enough she can hand carry it there and they will, most times, re-package it while she waits.  If having to send by 2GO it will take a week roughly.

Contact the embassy about this if unsure of how to return it.

I suggest to keep the DO NOT OPEN envelope tightly wrapping inside the plastic that it was delivered in, then keep that in her carry-on bag as she will need it immediately upon arrival at POE
