Hi VJ's

Today my fiance had her K1 interview in Juarez Mexico and received a blue 221G. The official said everything was fine and no extra documents where needed. But it needed to go through administrative processing and could not say the reason why. He did not keep her passport but also said it was not denied. Anyone gone through this 221G and not asked for any extra documents? If so how long was the process and outcome. Thanks in advance

AP can take as long as it takes... No one can really tell you when yours will be over, could be days, weeks, months or even years.... Good luck on your journey!

It's very strange because that paper says that your case is incomplete. It's weird that he didn't tell her what was missing. I'm assuming that after being in AP for awhile they will let you know what documents they want.

I was at loss too he didn't say what it was, and she even asked what was missing. All he said was not to worry and wait while it's in AP. The sad part is that she has a tourist Visa and he stamped it cancelled without prejudice.. she was like whatttttt and asked so if I dont get this K1 approved then I also loose my tourist Visa? He replied it will be fine, I will personally work on your file and smiled.. I dont mind waiting for the AP process but would have liked to know what caused it. I'll be checking CEAC often.

A 221(g) is often called a "soft" refusal. It's technically refused but it appears that it's just due to needing to complete additional review, documents verification, background checks, etc. in this case. Once that completes, the visa should be issued (barring finding an inadmissibility during that process). It's a wait, but not a bad sign.

That's normal to cancel other NIVs w/o prejudice. A K-1 implies immigrant intent. A tourist visa requires not having immigrant intent. It's not personal or a sign of anything wrong with your case.
