Hello VJ

Need some help on Police Clearance Certificate issue.

I lived in Canada for 7 years and got my Police Clearance Certificate from RCMP as required by US Immigration on 21 July 2019.

And currently I am living in India and got my Police Clearance Certificate on 10 Aug 2019.

I am still waiting for my welcome letter from NVC

What worries me is the validity of the Canadian PCC.

I called RCMP and they said it is valid from 3 months up to 1 year depending on the agency requesting PCC.

So my question is, What is the validity of Canadian PCC?

If it is 6 months then I need to apply for new one in November because it take more than a month to get it in mail in India.

Do I need to get new PCC even if I don't go back to Canada?

1) Canadian police certificates are valid for as long as the party requiring them determines they are valid for.  Generally 1 year after issue.

2) according to the NVC website if you do not return to a country after obtaining a police certificate before leaving, you do not need to get another one and that certificate remains valid indefinitely or until you return to that country.

3) which certificate did you get?

I got PCC from RCMP under  Canadian Privacy Act. fingerprint-based, certified criminal record check.

I left Canada in January 2019. And got my PCC in July 2019

US uses a one-year validity as standard for PCCs regardless of the individual country's stated validity.

Or if the person doesnt return to the country then its indefinitely.

Hey can you tell me how did you get pcc from rcmp in India? Where did you gave your fingerprints and whats was the cost?

You need to find a local agent who is accredited by RCMP to collect your finger print from and mail it to them. There is no just one company or system for this in India.

There are different travel agents who are authorized to do so. You need to find them in your city.

JK consultancy is well known for this, I myself used them for their service.

It took about month to get my PCC in mail in India. and cost me around Rs.20K
