RapidVisa is a third-party company that assists with visa. At the time I didn’t know about VJ, so I went with them to be able to have people that could answer questions for me and make sure I was doing things properly. They (RapidVisa) are the ones saying three years of income tax and the current year’s salary, which is why I was thrown off. The post is more about whether 2016 income being lower by a small amount would have that much weight on the decision, if I am making $10,000 over the requirment, even ignoring any assets.

Well they’re not following what otherwise are pretty simple instructions.  Your money’s probably gone but i’d definitely ask for it back.

I'd imagine RV asked for it to make sure that without a doubt your interview would be smooth and that you couldn't come back and say "Well I didn't know 2016 would matter!". Companies like that don't want bad reviews, so they cover their butts to make sure there's less and less room for error.

Sadly you are not the first to be screwed over by RapidVisa incompetence, this site is full of such examples.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Yes, I noticed that, but I didn’t find VJ until it was too late. :( Either way, at this point, all we care about is approval.

2018 taxes and 2019 ytd income sounds a lot like what the instructions ask for

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

IF you feel additional returns help you submit them.  Only an idiot would insist you optionally provide 3-yr-old tax data that would raise questions.

Fire them.

Thank you! I appreciate this very much. Idiots indeed!

Yeap, that is exactly what is happening, except now they are going to get an even worse review! LOL!
