what Documents to provide for job?

Hi,

I am trying to see what is the best documents to provide for a job. I have a conditional GC which expires in 2021. Should I provide employer with that? Or give them my social and drivers license? Or does it even matter. Idk how they will react if they see my GC expected in two years. Will they know that if i just give them license and social?

Hello, 

 

They will need you Green Card for sure as it is the proof that you can legally work in the US. The SS number is also a must. 

 

I also started working on a conditional GC and there'll was no issue at all.

Employers must know that you are authorized to work in the US......that means they need to verify that using the Green card.....

I was asking what would be the better documents to provide for the other job. Should i just give them license and social or conditional green card. I’ve heard stories about getting fired from the conditional green card being expired whiles waiting on ROC. I am wondering if it would be best just to give license and social. Would employer know that my conditional GC is only valid for 2 years is what I am getting at.

With a Conditional GC you can´t have an unrestricted SS number.

 

It will say: "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". It forces you to show it together with a valid Green Card.

I understand that a person CAN have an unrestricted SS card with a conditional Green Card........

Anyway, hello @killadocg23  I found the right answer :

 

If your SS number card says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION", which can be perfectly the case if, as I did, you requested it before having your conditional GC in hand, you will have to show both to your employer. If your GC doesn't have that text that means that you have asked to remove that text after you received your conditional GC or you waited to have a SS number until you had a GC in hand.  So, in that case, I guess that an employer won't need your GC.

Your limited term drivers license should have the same expiration date as your green card. For ROC you'll get an extension letter and you can always get the i-551 stamp. No employer should fire you because your green card expires. It's just the card that expires and not your status.
