Hi everyone! I would just like to ask if anyone know when do you usually get an RFE for AOS, is it before or after biometrics?  After biometrics, is it the start of waiting time already for the interview and/or EAD,AP combo card? Thank you! 😊

Almost always after biometrics, although nothing is guaranteed. Biometrics are usually weeks to a couple months after the application is filed.

EAD/AP is processed at the NBC. ETA: ~4-6 months, although some are waiting longer still.

AOS itself depends on local USCIS field office. Some may take a few months total, many are around a year, and some are 18+ months.

The processing of the above forms is done in parallel - it's not one-then-the-other.

I just thought that I can breath well already of not having RFE since we got our biometrics appointment after one month of filing the AOS papers 😂

Yes I've heard it's a case to case basis and depends on what state how long they process the EAD, AP and AOS

Thanks so much @geowrian for the swift reply, as always! 😁😊

Got one before my biometrics date was up. So got the bio letter and later the RFE.

You can still go to the biometrics despite the RFE.

From my experiences of following others:

1. I485 RFEs come at the beginning of the I485 process.

2. I765/I131 RFEs come at the end of their process just before approval.

An RFE for any of them pauses the process for all.

Tax extension. They didn't like that we sent in tax extension letter for 2017 so he needed to file his taxes early even tho it is legal to file in the fall if u requested the extension.

Did you file this year or last year? I read that they are more strict to financial/tax records for the AOS

Last year so they wanted the 2017 returns too, not just the extension letter. It was weird but whatever, he filed his taxes and we were back on track.
