So,

i recieved an RFE for a new medical as DHS lost the last one.

Had all results faxed over from Australia, including clear negative HIV, syph, Chest X-ray results etc...

went to civil surgeon, who took all my results ( 6 months old) and wrote me a new I-693 .

Just recieved the new RFE, FOR MEDICAL!!!!!, saying the doctor did not perform a skin test for TB..

It tells me to return for a skin test and IF that Skin test is positive a chest xray should be done??!!!

welllll if DHS had not lost my original medical which was based on the chest xray I would not have this problem, would I??

So, should I make an infopass? or just get another TB test? ($$$$$)

This doesn't make sense since the chest xray shows that you are CLEAR for TB and if I understand correctly (someone correct me if I am wrong) is a better indication of TB than a skin test... ugh.

hi lisaf

sorry to hear that DHS is stuffing you around mate...

and i reckon misa is right on the x ray score...if you had TB it would show up on your Chest x ray ...did you bring your chest x ray over with you .. maybe you could do an info pass to see if you have to have the test...(thats if its not too far away from you)

I had to have a TB test done before I could volunteer at the local hospital..the red mark from it stays about a week on your arm ...

makes ya wonder how on earth they loose thing...

good luck for a quick approval mate...

you take care and keep your chin up..

I am pretty sure that the chest X-ray done at the medical is given to the patient, so even if all the records were sent, that piece would be missing. No sense in taking the X-ray to an infopass appt., because there isn't a doctor there to read it.

I suggest you get a TB skin test--it's probably covered by your medical insurance. If not, find a clinic, plead poverty and they will do it. It only takes a minute, although you have to go back 3 days later to have someone "read" the results.

A TB skin test seems to be a new requirement... How much more stupid can this be - I ALWAYS have a positive skin test because of my TB vaccination, why the heck should I spend money and time on the skin test when it doesn't prove squat? An X-Ray is a better way to detect TB, how can it be not enough?

Lisaf, I am so sorry you have to go through this. Thank God this skin test is cheap! Best of luck to you.

Maybe for you the X-Ray is the best option. But for everybody else like me that don't have TB or TB vaccination then skin test is the cheapest and better way. I don't want to expose my body to X-Ray if I could avoid that with skin test.

This is not the point - the point is if you already had an X-Ray, there is no need for a skin test anymore. The OP had the X-Ray, so it doesn't make sense to make her do the skin test now.

This is my knowledge too. X-ray shows for sure you have tb or no. Skin test is not 100% safe. I really wonder.
