What is the next step?

I just got notice today that the 129/K-1 arrived at NVC. Do I have my fiancé send in the information for Packet 3 or does she wait til it gets sent to the embassy in Montreal?

Thank you

NVC will assign you a case number and send your documents to Montreal. You have to wait until your documents are sent to Montreal before you send P3. It looks like you got your case # assigned today, which means your documents probably won't be sent to Montreal until July 9th.

Yeah we just got our case number and we gathered everything needed for packet 3 already so we just wait and send that as soon as we get Packet 3 from Montreal? Maybe we can speed it up a little bit...

Thank you,

sorry super stressed, we had planned our wedding for August and the fiancé is freaking out about it. I’m more like oh well if we don’t get approved by then we just do the ceremony and don’t sign the marriage license then we go to a justice of the peace after we get approved. But she’s losing her mind.

I totally understand, nothing to apologize about. This whole process is super stressful. Not sure if August will happen, considering your documents haven't gone to Montreal yet. You can't make the process go any faster by sending P3 in right now, you just have to wait for for CEAC status to be 'ready' for the second or third time. You can track that using the MTL case # you got from NVC and going to this website, make sure you select "immigrant visa". Your fiancé will most likely have a September interview. I wish you guys all the best. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

I had no idea this was a thing... I’ll have to see if I can do it or if my fiancé has to sign up for it. That would be nice if we could get everything done soon. (I figured it would be closer to September than anything because the 797 or whatever saying we were approved was good til September)

That's good news! Your case was sent to Montreal today. Once you send in P3 in a few weeks you'll receive P4 which will allow you to log onto the website to book your interview. You won't be provided with an interview, they're quite confusing with the generic emails. I'll let you know when I send in my P3 since I'm also in transit!

OH THANK GOD! Looks like we are probably around the same time. We filed in December of 2018.

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

Birth Certificate and Police Certificate information

Here is some additional information. As was stated in the Canadian sub-forum there is an "emergency order" application in Ontario. You need the birth cert that is CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH REGISTRATION that has the parents name. You don't want the "parental cert" that is a wallet sized one with parents names but no place of birth, doctors who attended birth etc. The parental one is for parents travelling with kids to prove custody in an easy to use/travel with format. Hope this clears up your question. CALL the registrar and tell them you need to do an emergency application otherwise you will be waiting 15+ weeks. Absolutely the long form is a required LIVE document needed at the interview or you'll get rejected.  I hope this info is helpful and best of luck.

In case you're doing the medical in Vancouver: Dr. Cheema requires you to schedule the interview first in order to book the medical.

We’ve already put packet 3 together and are working on the packet 4 stuff. She got her police certificate done in March and she’s had most of her vaccinations done, (just needs the boosters) by her regular doctor. It’s just super annoying that we didn’t hear anything from NVC until I had to email them twice for information. They sent us notice of action that it was sent to NVC on the 18th of May, and I didn’t hear anything via email or snail mail until today and it was a reply to my email.

You may want to research what's involved if you use your own physician to administer the vaccination as it will get a little tricky and or costly come time to file your AOS. Most medical exams by the appointed medical exam facility include the vaccinations in the fee.

We had no idea since one of the lawyers we talked to suggested getting them done. Another post on here said that we should get them done before seeing the medical facility because one of them required boosters.
