Signing the I-134 in secret

Hello,

I have a question about a co/joint sponsor for a non-immigrant Affidavit of Support(I-134)

I have my mom willing to sign and use our house as an asset since she is currently unemployed. Our only problem is that my parents are separated and the house in in her and his name. Would she be able to put this down as an asset without him finding out?

Forget about your mother and hiding it from her spouse.

You need a different sponsor.   A house is not very liquid.

And you are going to need to be at 125% for the I-864 for your AOS.

Putting aside the obvious issue of claiming assets a person does not solely own, the problem is they may not accept your mom as a cosponsor. They like to see people with income and steady work history.

A house is NOT a liquid asset.

If you want to qualify on liquid assets (like savings), it needs to meet 3x the minimum income requirement (though some say it needs to be as much as 5x this amount).

You will need to find a co-sponsor with 125% the poverty requirement in the previous taxation year. Time to hit up friends and family.
