Hi, all

My Green Card has expired and I am traveling outside the US in July.

I applied for a new Greencard but it will not get here in time. I am planning on getting the I-155 stamp but am waiting on the call back for that appointment.

But I just got a call in response to an email I sent, and they guy I spoke with said I will get a extension on my green card for a year when I go to my biometrics appointment. I have had not heard of this happening before. Anyone have experience of this? I will obviously also try and get the stamp by going to my local field office, but this sounded great?

Thanks all

Tim

And just got an email that says this:

"We are pleased we could assist you today with your USCIS online filing system inquiry via telephone. As discussed in our conversation, If you are in possession of your Permanent Resident Card, you may request an extension sticker when you submit your biometrics. An unexpired extension sticker serves as acceptable documentation when traveling and proof of employment eligibility."

Has anybody had experience of this?

If you renew the 10 years GC, they can put a sticker on the nearly expired GC that can be extended for another 6 months at the time you get biometrics. There is no extension letter if  you renew 10 years GC.
