Vietnam Police Certificate while living in Australia

Hello! I am reaching out in the hopes that I can have someone with personal experience (or more knowledge than me) answer this question.

 

My fiance is currently a permanent resident in Australia but was born in and grew up in Vietnam. One of the requirements as we know is Police reports from all countries the spouse as lived in (for more than 6 months if I recall correctly). From the research we have done into our situation, we are supposed to be able to apply for the Police Certificate #2 by international post, though my fiance's sister says if we send this request in on our own without going through a lawyer or some agency they might simply ignore or deny it even if she has the required documentation. There's also the matter of paying the fee. I'm concerned about the idea of simply sending cash through the post. Does the Vietnamese government accept check or money order? I also read there might be a way to pay online or through bank transfer.

 

She is not able to give power of attorney to have her father or sister apply for it in person on her behalf because they only allow that for Police Certificate #1 (I don't really understand the difference but apparently for the visa the consulate in Sydney needs #2). Considering she already needs to book a flight from Perth to Sydney for her interview and also from Perth to the US once she is approved we are trying to avoid having to send her to Vietnam also to get this important paper. Any help would be appreciated.

According to the link above you can also apply via the local vietnamese embassy or consulate in Australia 

According to the Vietnamese embassy in Perth, they can't process these requests. We already tried that sadly...

You should contact Vietnam Embassy in Sydney for PC#2 since she's till VN citizens . You have to know the culture of Vietnam, you just need to spend " coffee money" and it will be done, even with the Vietnam Embassy.

I am a Viet native, my fiance is Aussie but had lived in Vietnam for a long time. To be completely honest, a flight to Saigon isn't that unaffordable. Do not send cash. I think you guys are over-complicating things.

Derek, now that I gave this more thoughts, she's not an Aussie. Hence she's technically a Viet. You are marrying a Vietnamese citizen. She may be classified as such and her residency in Australia may not change the NVC processing classification. I am not experienced with this. My case is the reverse. My fiance has residency in Vietnam but is an actual Aussie citizen.

Good to know. But she's a FULL Vietnamese, not an Australian. She's not a foreigner. It's a win-win situation. Saigon that is. Don't over-complicate.

She reached out the Embassy like you suggested and they were able to help explain what she needed to do. Thanks for your help!

Hi Derek, we're in a similar situation just a different country. Was she able to get the police check #2 from abroad? Through the embassy? We were looking at trying in Vienna or Nur-Sultan.

Her local Vietnam Embassy was able to help her know what to send and where to send it but every country is different. If you have an embassy in Australia, I would start there.
