Hello :)

I realise this question has come up a lot but I've seen different guidances offered and now a little confused.

Here's my situation:

- I have a letter from NVC with my case number.

- I've submitted the DS-260, scanned the financial documents and about to scan in the civil documents and submit them today.

Can I go ahead and schedule a medical appointment (and gather the things they'd ask) or should I wait till NVC reviews my documents and then schedule it? I feel like I should get a move on because of the wait time...

Any clarity on this would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I would suggest to wait because you don’t know yet how long your NVC stage will take. As you are an IR-1, the NVC will schedule your interview for you, as soon as you have the interview date you can schedule the medical (make sure there is enough time for the results to get back to the Embassy).

My clinic would not even let me schedule my medical without the interview date, not all Embassies are the same though.

Definitely work on getting the things you will need to take to the medical. See the list on their website. http://www.visamedicals.co.uk/us-bring.htm

You will have probably 5 weeks from when you get notified of your interview date to get the medical. The wait for an appointment is not that long that it would be a problem for you to get in before the interview. The wait on the phone to talk to them is the biggest problem.
