Everyone goes through AP of some type. It can range from days to months.

It depends on what type of Administrative Processing is happening on the case. Did you receive a 221g to provide more documents or told that you would be put on Admin Processing?

If you were told you were approved and there wasn't anything else you needed to do I'd give it a week or so. If you had to turn in documents I'd give it a few weeks after sending in what was requested, and if you were told you would be put on admin processing then anywhere from a few weeks to months depending on background checks and what they are doing.

I had a k1 interview and was denied for an inadmissibility.
I recently was approved for the waiver and it was forwarded to the consulate. This approval was only 3 months after my k1 denial so all documents from k1 are still valid and up to date.

Once the embassy received my approval notice. they only requested my passport to be sent. The received it on the 24th of may.

Since then, my case has changed on CEAC to non immigrant and administrative processing and has not changed since May 31st

It'll Show AP until it shows Issued and then it can very well switch back to AP and then back to issued. The systems aren't perfect. It'll say AP if they are doing ANYTHING with the visa, even printing it and putting it in the passport will show AP as the status.

Having it change from Immigrant to Non-Immigrant is a good sign though. I would give it about another week, as that's usually a sign they are finalizing everything up.

I find it the hardest that there is no prediction at how long this part of the process could take. my case did all the updates and changes that day on the 30th/31st. I just really hope it does not stay in AP for a long time.

Leeahh- How did the Consulate contact you to ask you to send in your passport?  Via mail or email?

We had a denial for an IR Immigrant Visa and then filed an i-212 waiver which was approved dated January 30 2019  but the issue with us is that our documents (ex medical) have expired.  It feels like we are waiting forever to hear for them and its mentally exhausting checking both my physical mailbox and CEAC website daily.

They contacted me through email the day after USCIS forwarded my approved 212 and asked me to send my passport. I mailed it that day then they updated everything online a few days later. I have not had an update since. My documents haven’t expired because my k1 interview was only 3.5 months ago

Leeahh - After your k1 interview denial did it show "Refused" on the CEAC website?  Ours shows "Refused" even though our waiver was approved on Jan 30, 2019.

Hi,

Yes it will show refused until the consulate receives your application and starts to work on the case.
USCIS forwarded mine to the embassy then as soon as the embassy received it, my status changed to "administrative processing" and the date updated from interview date to current date
