Previous petition and filed K1 visa

Hi,

My scheduled interview for K1 visa is already next month and I am just thinking a lot of things. One thing that I was worried is my father was petitioned by my aunt way back in 1995 and we were included in the petition as a derivative. It was just approved last year and since it took 20+ years,we were already aged out. So it was just my parents who were able to leave just this April. Will it caused a problem on my K1 petition?

Very exciting!! I am still (not patiently) waiting for my interview date 🤞..

 

As like everybody else, you will need to be able to prove a steady relationship with your fiance (by how you answer the questions and the proof of pictures of you together etc.) during the interview.

 

The previous petition in itself should not automatically be a reason for denial or anything, but as you can maybe imagine, it might make the embassy want to see a lot of good signs of a real relationship between you and your fiance and they might ask a little more questions or evidence to make sure that it is all in order.

 

How many times have you and your fiance seen each other in real life? How long were you in a relationship before you got engaged and filed? Has he traveled to see you, etc? Just some examples.

The answers to questions like these will help the embassy to get an idea of the reality of the situation.

 

Good luck on your interview, I hope it will be a success and you will be able to proceed quickly.

No it will not have an influence on your K1. Follow the different directions for the different steps and you'll be fine.

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
