Hi all,

Am doing my EAD/AP renewal now. Just wondering, what did you guys put on the EAD renewal for

  • Item Number 25. Your Current Immigration Status or Category. Provide your current immigration status. For example, if your current status is student academic, F-1, type or print “F-1 student” in the space provided.

I came in on F1, but at this point, am no longer F1.

For EAD and AP am submitting

  • Current copy of EAD
  • 2 photographs (Also, did you guys submit photographs? Read somewhere that photograph is not needed for EAD
  • copy of NOA for Form I-485

Did I miss out anything? Thank you in advance.

I submitted my EAD/AP renewal at the very end of December 2018. It's still pending.

My EAD/AP renewal timeline:

12/28/2018-Submitted I-765 with I-131 for free EAD/AP renewal.

05/13/2019-Went to I-485 interview. "Your case is being held for review."

05/23/2019-Date of I-485 RFE.

06/04/2019-Expiration date listed on initial EAD/AP (EAD part automatically extended till 12/01/2019)

06/13/2019-Local field office received my RFE response (according to USPS). Online case status doesn't reflect that; online case status still says "we scheduled your interview."

08/02/2019-I called USCIS about the pending I-765 and I-131 being out of processing time. They submitted a service request; officer still hasn't been assigned to the service request.

09/09/2019-I called USCIS again about the pending I-765 and I-131. They submitted a 2nd service request.

09/10/2019-I submitted a request for case assistance to the Ombudsman for the pending I-765 and I-131.

09/18/2019-I received an email from Ombudsman. "The Ombudsman's Office has reviewed your request for case assistance and contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regarding your application/petition."

09/19/2019-Officer was assigned to 2nd service request.

09/23/2019-I-765 was approved.

09/25/2019-I-131 was approved.

Glad it turned out favorably for you. When we were languishing around, watching the grass grow, awaiting some sort of activity with our ROC, I also enlisted the assistance of the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CISOMB). Though I can't say conclusively that their involvement was decisive in our case. Their involvement seemed to be the one thing that broke up the log-jam at the CSC. The direct result of the CISOMB involvement in our case is that we got an RFE. Which at least showed that somebody finally looked at our file. We successfully responded to the RFE, and we're approved. Kudos to the CISOMB.  YMMV

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
