US Wife Income

Hi guys,

So me (UK) and my wife (US) have decided to move to the US after trying to settle in the UK. The one concern I have is that she is currently living in the UK with me and hence not working in the US. Will this affect her ability to meet the finance requirements required?

Also I just received my letter to start my visa process. Anyone know how long this will take?

Yes.  If she's not currently making an income that will continue then you will beed adequate assets or a joint sponsor.

Are you guys doing DCF?

Thank you for your response NikLR.

Yes we are currently creating our case with NVC.

Then you are NOT doing DCF "Direct Consular Filing".  Become A-students of the I-864 instructions.  Interpret them "literally" not "conveniently".  Sounds like you need to use significant liquid assets or a qualified joint sponsor.

Will you be using savings or a joint sponsor? Any reason you decided not to DCF?
