Tourist visa overstay in DR (not In US)

Greetings. I am American and my fiancé is Dominican. I have been visiting him for the past 6 months. I say visit because I still have residency in the USA and I am here on a Dominican tourist visa that I have overstayed. I overstayed my Dominican visa once before to spend as much time with him as possible. This has allowed us to grow closer and led to us filing for k1 visa. We are in love! My question is, does me overstating my Dominican visa have any consequence on our approval. I don’t work here and will pay all fees and penalties upon leaving. From my research, there is no extended tourist visa here, you just pay the fee when you leave. I feel like me being here with him actually provides even more evidence of a bona fide relationship. We are at the NVC process now, just hoping I am not missing anything. Thoughts would be appreciated.

You can stay as much as you want your overstay won't come up at the interview.

No you won’t have any problems and yes you could extend your tourist visa in DR to avoid fees. I’m also Dominican you’ll be alright.

You don't need a tourist visa to enter DR if you're a US citizen so I'm a bit baffled. You said you still have residency in the US, but you can only apply for a K1 if the petitioner is a citizen not a legal permanent resident.

Unless there's something I'm missing

I am a US citizen, my fiancé is Dominican. A tourist visa is required to enter the DR, it is included in airline purchase and has a limit of 30 days. You used to have to pay $10 for it on arrival, but now it’s included. I spoke with an immigration attorney here (DR) about extending the visa. He laughed and said, “just pay the fees at the airport when you leave.” It sounds like that’s pretty standard practice for expats and tourists who need more than just a 30 day sunburn. 😄

thank you for the responses.
