Hi! Fiancé and I are getting our docs ready for the Medical (April 8), CFO (May 7) and interview (pending appointment) I can’t quite figure out how many originals of the below are needed? Does CFO keep the originals at the time of interview? I see that the CFO also requires the originals so do we need 2 of each? Or 1 original and multiple copies of each document will suffice for the rest of the journey to the US? Thank you!!!

1. Beneficiary’s Cenomar

2. Beneficiary’s Birth Certificate

3. Any thing else?

Original NBI clearance also. Ensure you get 2-3 original birth certificate copies as the embassy will keep the one you give and you will need one for AOS later in the US. We got copies of everything just in case.

1st CFO may ask to see original but will keep copies.    It is suggested to complete the CFO-GCP seminar early, then you don't need extra originals .. PLUS you won't have the delay after receiving the visa later.

Original documents for the visa interview:

PSA CENOMAR, Birth Certificate.

NBI (if you have used other names make sure to get the AKA for all names used)

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/    (STEP 5 is the Checklist of requirements for the interview.   Complete all 5 steps)

Now for the NBI on the other names used you know how Filipino families tend to give “nicknames” not professionally used, will this be a problem as I did include it on the application (which now I think I really shouldn’t have) 🤦🏻‍♀️ And it’s not on any of the NBI clearances as he was known by his original name?

If the interview date is before the CFO it is necessary to have extra originals for all the documents so it is better to secure an appointment AFTER the CFO so no extra originals are needed correct?

You can do either, but it's easier to just get extras now while in the Philippines.

As for "nicknames", yes, my husbands name isn't legally Zian, that's just a life long nickname given by friends and all. As long as the 'nickname' isn't anything legal, no need to mention it. The CO read through some of our chat logs, saw me call him Zian, that's how he's labeled in my phone even, he figured it's just a nickname. They understand those things there.

NBI - Other names used would be legally used names, not nicknames.

CFO is a wiley critter .. they use the "other documents" clause like using a napkin for great BBQ.   With CFO, "be prepared" is not just a Boy Scout motto.  Read through the list in the link I gave you for CFO.   Extra copies are cheap .. it is the time it takes to get them that costs.  ;)

Also with the BC ... bring a few extras to the USA with you .. they will come in handy.

Awesome! Thanks!

I also saw how the SSN# for the 1040 should be blackened, should that also be done for the copy for the actual interview at USEM? Or just 1 copy will be good enough for both (CFO & USEM)

You ssn is already on the petition so blacking it out on the 1040 for usem is pointless

YMMV

I wasn't aware financials are required for CFO.

Just to prove singleness.

Can a copy of BC be ok? (CFO)

I would never give anyone an original of my BC.

NO on the SSN for the embassy, they already have it anyway.     If the embassy takes the financial documents they will not return them.

Only if CFO asks to see the 1040 do you BLACKOUT the SSN.  ;)
