Hello, this is for ghana consulate. After the interview, they only kept medical report, 2 passport photos and passport and gave one sheet to pick up visa. They did not take any of the rest, why? How come they sometimes take all original documents and sometimes they don't with other people? 

 

How come after being told to pick up visa visa within two weeks, it still says administrative processing? Is there a problem?

There is no answer to exactly what they keep.  Every case goes through some form of administrative processing, but no one can accurately predict how long it will take.  It could be days, weeks, or months.  The fact that they kept your passport is a very good indicator.....good luck.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you. oh I see, I thought maybe something is going on. So what am I supposed to do with the rest of the originals like the affidavit of support? should i bring it to the border of US

Keep them for your records.

All that is not needed by them you submitted at NVC. Put in a file somewhere. Everything for immigration for the POE will be in the Visa brown envelope.

If it says AP means they still working on it and it's not released yet to the visa center. Doesn't mean anything is wrong. Ghana is very slow.

Mine changed to issued after a week and one day, so yours should be too. Pretty soon
