You can but if you do that you need to be prepared for the fact that your approval will be conditional on receiving the medical report and they will not issue the visa until they have it. 

 

It's advisable to do the medical 10+ days beforehand to insure the embassy receives it in time, so if you're able to do that - you should. 

 

However, if you're only option is to do it close to the interview date, it should only cause a slight delay. There are a fair number of people around on VJ who have been in this same boat. Also might help to look at information specific to your embassy/location.

You technically can as stated above but it won’t arrive on time for the interview. My husbands embassy (London) recommended 5 working days in between medical and interview. He did 5 business days exactly in between and his medical still had not arrived at the embassy. It arrived about a day later. So to be safe 10 days as suggested above is usually pretty good. It’s also a good idea to check the country specific forums and embassy reviews to see if anyone has recently had a medical and interview in your country and how long it took their medical to arrive

April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
