So I had a horrific experience today at the Mumbai airport. I have the 18 month extension letter and they did not let me on the flight back to US as EU, specifically Germany in this case (Lufthansa) does not allow expired green cards with extension letter for transit. I had to rebook my flight. This is extremely frustrating. There were 2 other families in the same boat, nobody was allowed. Thoughts ?

Wow surely that’s not allowed! I would work on contacting corporate and getting your money back!!!

Someone posted about an exact scenario a few weeks ago.. not allowed to board a Frankfurt-bound aircraft from India. With a baby in tow. Apparently Lufthansa is prickly about requiring a physical green card or a valid visa to transit through Germany.

They complained to Lufthy but did not get their money back afaik. Ended up paying for a flight with a middle east carrier.

Did you had all your paper work with you? Once I had a little talk with Lufthansa personal in Vena about different names in my GC and passport and no merryge certificate, but his supervisor said it's okay, let her go. Did you tolk to supervisor?
