Then she sends a copy of the amended tax return for 2017 showing a correction to married (jointly or separately it doesn't matter) to NVC and you take a copy to the interview.

when it comes to taxes and returns,  it is so much better if the USC asks the questions

we know you do not understand our tax system

for instance

Did you,  the Moroccan, fill out the W7 form for her to get your ITIN and add you to 2017 tax returns?

Did she provide an original marriage certificate and original birth certificate of you with 2017 tax returns?

Did she amend her 2017 taxes with all the above?

I have discussed the process for a USC to do joint returns with a foreign spouse still living outside the USA many times

i added my husband in 2010 when we married and for each year 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 till he came to the USA (with the ITIN)

Your choices, as a married couple, are to file "Married Filing Jointly" or "Married Filing Separately."  If you are married you cannot file tax returns as single.

and all the above will depend  on when you get an interview  which depends on how fast she completes  the NVC stage

if you interview after April 15th a 2018 tax transcipt will be needed

if before that date a 2017 transcript

you don't  show a timeline so hard to now at what point your process is

just november doesn't tell us as many take a long time to complete the NVC documents and pay the fees
