I 864 RFE difficulty

Hey forum members,

I recently got a RFE for my i864.

 

It said for me to reapply the i864 for the joint sponsor (which is my father in law).

It only mentioned that either things were not right:

-missing signature

-missing papers

-used old document

 

Well I'm sure that he signed the doc and we filled out the most updated version. So I am confused to why they sent the RFE and I couldn't get more information calling in.

 

Now we're refiling and I don't have a clue what was incorrect, which makes me wary since I am basically just following instructions as I did first time.

 

The only thing that might be it was that the tax return wasn't signed.- it was just a copy of it he got from the accountant. Do you think that may be the reason for the RFE, so this time we need to sign it?

 

We attached W2s and the tax return plus proof of nationality.

 

Any other ideas before sending everything off - like what might have been off?

Do you remember if what you send is the 1040 Federal tax return? And you don’t need to sign the tax return we didn’t sign ours.

Get the IRS tax transcript from the IRS website rather than sending the  1040 and W2

 

keep a copy of everything you send this time .. including the completed I 864 form

Will they accept print out from IRS website. It doesn’t show full name and SS#

You need to set up an account at

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

 

then you can download and print your full transcript or request it by mail

The print out will not show the full name and SSN. it should be fine

Do you know where it’s asking for civil documents do I have to submit my divorce documents too or it’s my husbands only
