You enter the word "Unemployed" in the appropriate box (first question).  You don't enter any dates.

Thank you, but if you read the question carefully, it says that if you're CURRENTLY unemployed to enter "unemployed" in #1, then your proceed to employer 2, 3, etc...BUT what if the spouse NEVER worked, then how do you convey that to them? Because technically by entering "unemployed" in #1 you're just telling them that you're currently not working, and if I were examining that application, I'd be looking and expecting to see the beneficiary's previous years (up to 5 years) work history, and may classify that petition as  incomplete or "needs more info".

A bit off topic, but why would we need to show assets and "have a plan" and joint sponsor?! That would only be true if I (the petitioner) don't have a good income or enough $ to support her. Am I missing something here? Thanks

Correct. If you are the petitioner and work and meet the financial requirements, then ignore my above remark...I thought the unemployed individual was the petitioner.

My bad, I should have clarified it in my original post. It is the beneficiary that never worked, and that what I'm confused about how to convey that to the INS. Thanks

If spouse has never worked then the "unemployed" in the first box and an absence of ANY work history would signify never worked in my mind.......unless you want to put "N/A" in the work history boxes..........don't over think these forms...

I think that's great advice. I tend to over do it. Cheers!
