My K1 was finally approved and I"m making the big move in 10 days. I'm just wondering what the process is at the Port of Entry (POE). HOw long does it take? Are there a lot of questions? I"m crossing with a Uhaul and i"m assuming they will need to search through all my belongings; should i have every box labelled? Are there a lot of forms or anything i need to complete. I'll be bringing my dog and his rabies shots are up to date so i hope I only need to provide documentation showing rabies?? My fiance will be with me.Oh and should i call ahead to let them know i'm coming?? Any suggestions tips and/or background would be greatly appreciated. I'm crossing at Port Huron in MIchigan.

I dont really know about the other stuff, but with the dog:

Quote
  1. Dogs must have an official interstate certificate of veterinary inspection filled out by a United States Department of Agriculture accredited veterinarian in the animal’s state of origin.

Also yes you need to provide a proof of the valid rabies shot.

My husband and I came across the WA/BC land border because he had flown to Vancouver from Auckland.  It was my car, however, and we had no pets with us.  He had several big suitcases, which they did not even open.

As far as processing the K-1 visa, we were directed to secondary, and it was processed while we waited.  The particular officer helping us had never done a K-1 before, so he was doing it with some supervision.

I don't think there were any particular questions.

It's not likely they will look at the Uhaul or vet records. Have your list with labeled boxes and the vet records on hand if asked.

No reason to call ahead.  If they are open 24/7 you would good to go.
