You will see some confusing wording.  The thing is that your citizenship cannot be approved until your ROC is processed.  When you get the USC interview, make sure that you contact the USCIS to make sure you get the combo interview - where the adjudicating officer interviews to close the ROC and USC petition both.  They need to complete the ROC petition in the system first, then can approve your USC.  Make sure you call the USCIS to get your case transferred when you are in line for an interview, then when your interview is scheduled, mail two things:

1) A copy of your interview letter to the office that has your ROC and request the case gets transferred to the local office

2) A copy of your ROC NOA to the local office with your interview letter and request your interview is a combo

 

The last part may be overkill as the USCIS is supposed to do this automatically, but I don't trust them and this is what we will be doing!

Thanks for this post. I didn't realize that I needed to specifically request an ROC interview at the same time as the citizenship interview. 

 

According to the online system, my ROC was transferred to my local field office as of April 2018. So I will skip step one and contact my field office directly to let them know I need a combo interview.

We also got our biometrics letter. However, it's scheduled for December 27. We will be out of town with my family for the holidays! We are going to try to walk in next Monday December 17. I am going to bring our plane tickets as evidence that we will be out of town. Hope it works. I heard it's best to go in the afternoon, so we will go around 2p.

I think you have been misled and that we (the applicants) cannot request anything like this.

I think you will give the USCIS folks a good laugh when you request this.

But, if I am wrong, I would be happy to hear about it; so let us know.

Saw today (11 December) in the 'Documents' section of MyAccountUSCIS that wife's Bio is scheduled for 24 December 2018.

This is pretty quick scheduling as she only submitted N-400 on-line on 6 December.

So 5 days from submission to scheduling, and 18 days from submission to appointment date.

WOW . . . wouldn't it be great if the rest of USCIS processing operated this fast ?? !!

I apologize if I didn't state it, but you don't actually NEED to do anything.  The combo interview should be done on the USCIS end at the same time.  They should set it up seeing that your ROC is pending.  I am only giving a suggestion given other VJ'ers experiences posted.

Mine is giving a 2021 date, but as always take that with a grain of salt as it looks like my office (Dallas) is taking roughly a year.

Applied online 12/9 for Naturalisation, and received the paper NOA1 today 12/14. Still waiting on my ROC approval which I filed back in February and have heard nothing about since. We leave for England on Tuesday and now I'm concerned that biometrics might come while we're gone...

 

Realised I didn't specify that I applied the day my 90 day window opened up too.

Same here. I got the email but it is not in my Document Tab yet. Can’t wait to see when is the Bio appointment.

Just checked my documents too but nothing is there other than receipt, I'm guessing it'll be early-mid january but we'll see
