Hi All,

After a long wait, I finally got my interview letter. I filed in March of 2017 and my interview is scheduled for end of December 2018. I filed based of 5 year rule and remarried after receiving my 10 year GC. What documents should I take with me to the interview? Thank you in advance for taking the time to help me.

Make sure to bring your foreign passport and green card.  Other than that, you can bring originals of documents/evidence you submitted with your application incase it's asked for.  Some IOs ask to see tax transcripts over the past 5 years, some do not.  Best of luck with your interview!

On an aside, at my interview the IO did not want to see tax returns, but asked for a copy of my foreign birth certificate even though it was not a required document....so a lot of it depends on what the IO wants to see (I applied under the 5-year rule as well).

I interviewed in NYC---you can read my interview experience in my signature below.

The letter asks us for emoloyment verification letters for both my husband and I as well as two recent pay stubs. My husband is filing under the three year rule.

Employment verification letters and pay stubs?  Why? I've never heard of any such requirement, as employment is not a legal requirement for citizenship.

I'm not sure why,  we're just jumping through the hoops. It surprised me too.

Reading a little closer, it says that the employment letters must list (among other things) "marital status" and "whom to notify in case of an emergency". Maybe this is part of proving a relationship under the three year filing rule? My husband's work wouldn't agree to put his marital status down saying that they couldn't verify that info, but hopefully we'll be okay anyway.
