I did it myself through the visa center and pretty sure it still cost me close to $500...

It cost $298 expedited. Plus another $30 to correct an error I made. Not too bad.

You have cut it very close. They *should* be able to issue your expedited visa, if everything is in order. Did you get a single entry or a multi entry visa? The multi entry is a little more paperwork and they look at it your application a little harder, especially for expedited cases. I know the staff at the Houston ILS pretty well now. I have some stories, lol.

Anyways, you do realize that the first week of January, everything will be closed in Russia, right? It's their Christmas holidays. Many things are not open for public, like the movies or theaters/museums. Just letting you know, because I go every Dec/Jan for the past 3 years now. I will be there Dec 30th to Jan 30th this time. Cant wait!! I think it will be warmer this winter, than the past two. The city is always full of great Christmas lights.

Single-Entry. Tatiana was the one who helped me.

Yes, I realize that I won't be doing much touristy stuff...and thats 100% okay with me. I just want to spend some time with Aleksandra in her own country, in her home, meet more of her family and friends. I am only going for a week. We will return the following year and try to do some sightseeing and visit Moscow (she has never been). :)

You say it will be warmer :) but it will still be unbearably cold for me! Ha!

I got my Russian Visa yesterday! That was way too easy to do on my own! I wonder why some agencies charge extra for Russia and say its because it is more difficult? Oh well. Happy to have it in hand!

Congrats!  That was much faster than anticipated.
