Does a B1/B2 visa gets automatically revoked when a petition I-130 is filed?

Hello VJ people.

 

My brother is a US citizen and would like to file for our mother to have a green card and come be with us.

She is visiting the US now for 6 months and will be leaving in May, she leaves alone back home so we are trying to minimize the time she spends alone away from us.

The plan is to start by filing her petition I-130 in December 2018 so that hopefully by the time she goes back home after her authorized stay in the US, we hope her petition will be approved 

We will then proceed with the IR process at the local embassy in our country ; Hopefully by then she will have an interview within the next 6 months and can finalize the process and come live with us.

 

My concern though, and I am sorry if the question was already answered, will her visa be revoked if my brother files the petition while she is here visiting?

I tried Google and searching other forums but could not find a definite answer.

Again, we will not be adjusting her status, just starting the process with the petition.

Not an issue; people do it all the time with spouses (shouldn't be different with parents).

No, not only was mine not revoked when I had an i130 filed for me (F3 category), I even had it renewed during the wait.  Might be harder for her to actually use it for a future visit in an IR category though, but that doesn’t seem to be the plan.

When she gets her immigrant visa, the B1/B2 will be cancelled without prejudice.

Hello guys,

 

@SusieQQQ,  and @TM92my brother who is a US citizen is about to send the petition I-130 (alone no AOS) for both our parents, I wanted to know do you need to send 2 pictures for both the petitioner (my brother) and the applicants (mother and father) please?

Also do you need to add the biometric fee of $85 on top of the usual fee (now $535)?

I read so many different things I am a bit confused sorry
