Hello all,

maybe a question that has already been answered, but do you need anything other than your passport out when you enter the United States?

I did not know if you needed any of your medical information, etc. to surrender at the POE

Thank you

If you are entering the US via your K-1 visa, you will need your unexpired passport with attached unexpired visa.  If you received a sealed packet from the consulate along with your passport, you will need to surrender that at POE .

Your medical results are in the big white envelope you will turn over at POE. The chest X-ray they give you back at your interview (on cd from your medical) is not needed for anything.

Will they give the white envelope at the interview or through the courier?

It is delivered by courier along with your passport/visa and is marked DO NOT OPEN.

More and more embassies are discontinuing the “Do not open” packet.  They issued a memo that they plan to do away with all of them.  If you don’t get one, don’t panic.

That memo is old. I read it years ago. It is referring to the Packet terminology that Visa Journey still clings to. Look at the VJ timelines..."Packet 3 received".."Packet 3 sent"..."Packet 4 received".  It changed when real paper packets of info that came in the mail started being phased out for online instructions, emails, text messages, submission of forms online, and self-booking interview dates.

I think you mean the after interview case file  that has gone digital at some embassies for Immigrant visas like the IR1/CR1 folks. Those envelopes are (in some cases) no longer "couriered" to POE by the immigrant in their carry-on luggage.

K1s (nonimmigrant visa)  like the OP would still get the big white envelope from London to turn over at POE.

I always forget to look at whether the question is related to K1 or CR1 (the one we got, so I see everything through that lens).  Disregard!  That memo is the only thing I could find that speaks to the packet directly.  A friend got a CR1 for her spouse in Switzerland who sent no packet and they’re worried about static at POE.  A friend came over a few months ago also electronic and it took some arguing.   It was at the forefront of my mind.
