Green Card Expired 5 months ago and just notice

Timeline

We just find out now my niece's Green card expired on May 10,2018 She has Conditional Green Card. She came to USA May 10,2016.  Want to know which process she (husband is USA Citizen)has to pass through. She is very nervous. Is she has to go back home? Is there is any legal procedure to for renewal of her Green Card. Plz Plz Help ...

Timeline

File the paperwork as soon as possible and provide a written reason for the late filing.  They generally can approve it more easily if you state illness, caring for someone, etc.  She needs to have the ROC in process to get back in status.

Yes, she needs to file for ROC ASAP.. and provide a reason for the late filing.

If she waits too long, they will formally move to revoke LPR status and start removal proceedings...making it a more complicated and even less enjoyable process.

Not trying to say this is what your intention was...but "if you state illness caring for...blah blah blah" makes it easier"

it may encourage people to lie about certain things thinking they need to.

I was giving examples that they give.  Like anything else, they can ask for documentation.
