HELLO EVERYONE!

I am currently on day 114 and waiting for USCIS to approve my case. I am currently working with an immigration lawyer in my hometown. My lawyer secretary asked me to look over any corrections and call them if any corrections needed to be made. At the time, I was  in my husband's country and I lost WIFI connection. I was not able to get WIFI connection until the next day. I received WIFI and made the corrections and  about an hour after I sent the corrections I was informed that the lawyer office had already sent in the paperwork without my verbal or written confirmation. ( I AM NOT UPSET JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I FIX THE PROBLEM THE RIGHT WAY)

There were a couple of mistakes on the form but one that is making me worried. On the form it says ( HAVE YOU EVER LIVED WITH YOUR SPOUSE) at the time I had been with him for 3 months. Now I am staying longer than I thought. Due to the fact that I am still in college I was not aware that I could stay but I have received all my classes online. Now I am able to stay. 

My question is ( Should I call USCIS to make that correction? or Should I wait until the interview and have my husband explain to the US embassy/ interviewer of what happened if they ask that question? )

My lawyer tells me that if they send a REQUEST for MORE EVIDENCE then I make the correct at that time or if they dont send the request then at the interview tell them what happened and be honest.) 

DO you agree with the lawyer or what do you think... Because I am not that educated with USCIS immigration laws. I read minor mistakes do not matter... Is this a minor Mistake?

Agreed. You can't change the information on the forms via a phone call, and they generally do not accept more evidence via mail without issuing an RFE for it.

 

I would classify it as a non-material mistake. It can be updated at the interview later, but doesn't impact eligibility for the visa.

The only potential issue is they may wonder why the petitioner didn't know the correct answer originally...one should know if they lived together or not so that may appear odd to them.

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Do not offer any information to the CO that he doesn't ask for.  Answer the questions honestly but do not volunteer additional information.  

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

 

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

 

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.
