NOA2: October 13, 2018

K1 Visa
We're still waiting for our case to get into the NVC. My question for those who just finished the embassy phase, especially those beneficiary from the Philippines, do I really need to wait for the letter from the NVC before I can do or process anything?

No, but you do need the NVC case number for at least the medical. You can obtain this pre-letter by calling NVC (after NOA2).

Once you have NOA2, you can do everything else for Manila (DS-160, medical, schedule the interview, etc.). You will need a CENOMAR, NBI clearance, and birth certificate as well.

Don't schedule the interview too soon...it's possible Manila won't actually have the case from NVC yet. Give yourself like a month out for the interview if you schedule it while it's still at NVC.

That's really good to know! Thank you! I got all those documents already. We will check if the NVC already got our case.

So if the NVC receives it, do they email or text my fiancé? Or even update the status on my USCIS account?

Just make sure nothing is about to expire if you got them already.

NVC won't alert anybody, other than the physical letter they (eventually) send out to the petitioner.

When Manila gets the case from NVC, they will send an email with information, including a link to packet 4 (interview instructions).

After I-129F approval, USCIS is out of the picture so there won't be any updates from them to expect (only if the petition is sent back by NVC or something due to a mistake). You can check the CEAC status for NVC and the embassy side of things.

Thank you so much for your help! It's really hard to make a step when you don't know what's next. Now, I will start on this. Thanks again! 😊
