Help with Muslim divorce

My fiance lives in Mindanao. She converted to Muslim and married at age 19 in Manila. They were together for 7 months. That was 11 years ago. To those who have experience does she have to know how to contact him to divorce? She has no idea where he is. Also I am reading divorce is much easier and cheaper than annulment. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Divorce is not legal in the Philippines. Did she check with NSO if the marriage was registered? If yes, then annulment would cost her and better start doing it now.

Muslim divorce is legal under the right circumstances such as she was Muslim an married according to Muslim laws and traditions.

If it was an Islamic marriage Muslim divorce is cheaper and quicker and is one of the few divorces that are legally recognized in the Philippines. I believe they can do a divorce in absentia.  You can check with the local Iman or registrar.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

 

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

 

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

I'm not familiar with Muslim divorce. I second this advise.

Begs the question if the OP is also Muslim.

It was an Islamic marriage but she doesn't know if the husband has to be found in order to finalize a divorce. Thanks for your help.

OP clearly stated in the initial posting:   She converted to Muslim and married at age 19 in Manila.    Divorce is very legal in that case

A muslim divorce is the only recognized divorce in the Philippines. We are not sure if it can happen without the husband.
