Hello There!  I have received an email from US National Visa Center, letter K1-FTP. The Next Steps on the letter includes: Go to our website http://nvc.state.gov/k1 to learn how to apply for a K visa and prepare for the visa interview.  When I logged on the site with case number it is asking for the Invoice number. But this letter does not include any thing. When I checked the status on the NVC case tracker- it says your petition is in transit to the consulate in India and NVC has provided you with the interview date.   Can any one help please?

If you call the NVC, they will give you the invoice number.  The bit about "the NVC has provided you with the interview date" is non-specific verbiage, as every embassy has a different process for scheduling interviews.  If you check out the India forum here, you will find it, and/or @Greenbaum probably has it in his files.

Hello and thanks for the comment. Do you know what is next once I obtain the invoice number? I am on hold for the past 25 minutes on nvc line as of now.

I am not really sure why you would need the invoice number, but I mentioned it because you said it asked for it when logging on.   Btw, NVC phones are staffed quite late (midnight Eastern time), and I found it was much easier to get through later in the evening.

Again, I don't know the process for India, but for NZ, once the Auckland embassy received our approved petition, they emailed me (the petitioner) "packet 3," which is instructions on how to proceed with scheduling the medical and the interview and which documents to gather.    Also, once the packet arrives at Mumbai and is scanned in, you will receive a case number to use at the CEAC website to track case status.

The CEAC web site asks for the invoice number and without that it wont let me log in. By the way I just got the invoice number - The representative seemed quite frustrated. May be having a bad day or something. Thanks for the comment and let me see what next -

To receive a invoice number for your case you will need to call NVC and ask for it.

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

Thank you for your reply. I'm trying to fill the DS 160 form-

Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?  Do I select yes here at this point or no? cause I have not  even scheduled my medical exam yet , and  will the medical exam that I'm going to do at Hyderabad Ccntre for migration of medition include all the vaccinations that are required to enter US?

Thank you
