Hello Everyone! Wow, it’s been a while.

I’ve wandered back into these hallowed halls as my husband and I are working to complete and submit our I-751 packet and I have some concerns about our evidence!

While we have a good amount of co-mingled finances, I’ve noticed that some our accounts also have my parents included on them as well (young, lazy, non-independent millennials, am I right?)

For example, I planned to include old bank statements showing he had been added and is still joint on my bank accounts since marriage. When I went to print these statements, I noticed that the account has my dad’s name as well as my husband’s. Could this be an issue? Should I just attach an FYI note that the name other than me and Michael’s is my father’s?

I also want to include some car insurance information, since we are on the same plan. But again, we are all part of a family car insure plan to save money, so my parents are going to be noted as well.

Any thoughts? I could go in and remove my father from from the bank account, but I can’t alter the old statements of course. I could also look into opening a new car insurance policy just for us, but I’m not sure if the hassle and delay it would cause our filing will be worth it.

I guess I didn’t know how easy it was to start a new car insurance policy ha. I’ve never done it, must have just been more daunting in my head! Especially on top of all the other things we are running around and collecting.

my car insurance had my parents on it too。they had theirs opened first and when i was able to drive they just added me in。after marrying my husband and he came out,my dad just added him to the plan。just more convenient since my husband didnt really start to drive and get his license until this year。so when we sent in our package,i just included the family car insurance plan and explained my parents were on it too。

i hope it is OK。sure we can do NEW insurance plan but the cars we used my parents use them sometimes too, since we literally live across the street from each other。

but i havent heard back from my husband's case yet。so we'll see

I would just make sure that your Table of Contents include a brief explanation of why your father is on it or why it's a family plan. Simple. It's more cost effective. I would not get new insurance. That does not make sense to me. Then you would have little history of it - since you would have just gotten it.

His name is on it. Good enough in my opinion that not only you share with him but your Dad does too. Dad wouldn't do that for a greencard scammer.

And a note on another comment. I don't think they read a Table of Contents. The contractors  take apart your submission and make a new folder. Don't explain anything you want read by an officer on a cover page or Table of Contents. If it's important, make a separate page and put it with the thing you are explaining. Or write notes on the bottom of the evidence page like I did.
